Awesome starship, dude!! This was all done with pens and markers, right? I like the design, reminds me a bit of the unstreamlined craft from 2001- with big boxy engines and pokey things and radio dishes mounted on the hull and so on. I'm wondering about the engines, though, if it has an inertialess drive, what does it need chemical rockets and Bussard ramjets for? ^^ And what is its FTL system (can't lose a ship in hyperspace if you can't enter hyperspace), or is it reliant on some sort of portal network?
Thanks! Kind of being a fan of Syd Mead, Ron Cobb desogns when I did this.... The Faster Than Light is an hybrid between inertiales drive for acceleration to a point wher it can jump into Hyperspace. These jumps are relatively small compared with the vastness of the galaxy, so, there is a network of artificial wormholes that link the several sectors on the Imperivm Galactica (these were created in the GOLDEN AGE OF INVENTION before the barbaric DARK AGES so the knoledge to construct the Hypergates has been lost... so the ones that are still working are always open, once you close a gate, it can't be opened again)
Originally (back in '89)the ship was going to be a giant city-size submarine. The shape of the fron was supposed to be the head of a whale of sorts. I was thinking of a kind of postapocalyptic story about the only survivors of a nuclear war were two of this mobile submarine cities on opposed sides of the conflict and how they meet after a couple of decades after the end of civilization. Later I was working on a story in a DUNElike universe, so I got the long part of the submarine, moved the nuclear silos to the sides os the hull and add some nostromo like big engines based on Ron Cobb's designs... The antena on the acrylic artworkk is from the Discovery from 2001, but it was discarded when I made the 3D model ([link])in 2000...

M
that's ur classical "Japanese animation stile" right here!
I like it very very much!
Gonna keep my eye on you.
